A modular patio set is easy to live with and slow to put together. This is how owners of our 7 and 8 piece sets got it done, in their own words where it helps.
Before the boxes arrive
The 7 piece set ships in two boxes and the 8 piece in three. They often arrive on different days, and a half-built set on a patio overnight is no fun. Wait for everything before you open anything.
Clear a space twice the size of the finished set. You will lay out frames, cushions and hardware at the same time, and the glass table top needs somewhere safe to lean.

Sort the hardware first
Every owner who struggled struggled at the same point: the screws. They come in several sizes on one card, and a card torn in transit mixes them all up. Tip each size into its own cup or muffin tin before you touch a frame.
If I could give zero stars I would! Boxes labeled FRAGILE were torn open and thrown in the middle of my driveway! After bringing them inside I opened the box to see screws, and nuts EVERYWHERE!
Check every frame for bends before you start, not halfway through. A bent corner or a wrong piece is far easier to report while the boxes are still in the drive.
The first two chairs are the slow part
Once you have built one armless chair and one corner, the rest go quickly. Owners put the whole job at two to three hours for one person, and most of it is those first two chairs.
ok, so putting this together was a bit time consuming but it turned out beautifully! considering I went to Home Goods and a similar set was almost $1500 this is defiantly worth the sweat equity. It took about 3 hours total once we got the first two chairs done it went fast.
Choosing a shape
Every chair is a separate module that clips to its neighbour. The clips are the last step, so try the layout before you fix it.
- A U around the table: the shape in the photographs, best for talking and eating.
- One long line along a wall or a pool edge: good on a narrow deck.
- An L plus two loose chairs: easiest to walk through, and the loose chairs move to the sun.
- Two short sofas facing each other across the table: works on a square patio.
Looking after the cushions
The cushions are 4 inches thick, and every cover comes off. The covers are listed as water resistant on the 7 piece set and waterproof on the 8 piece set. Neither will enjoy a week of standing water.
Pale cushions show dirt quickly. Owners who love the set still mention how often they wash the covers. Brush off pollen and leaves before they get damp, and spot clean spills the same day.
Great set. Very comfy cushions. Assembly was fine once we got the screws sorted. They come with 5 sized. Package broke in box. Overall love the set. The cushions and pillows are water resistant. Super convenient during this storm.
Winter
- Take the cushions in, or at least cover the whole set, before the first long wet spell.
- Wash and fully dry the covers before storing them. Damp covers in a box grow mould.
- Hose down the wicker, let it dry in the sun, and leave the frames out or under a breathable cover.
- Lift the glass table top off and store it flat indoors.
